There is a paved boat ramp on Lower Highland Lake and an informal ramp on Upper Highland Lake, suitable for launching canoes, cartop boats, and small craft with electric motors. A scenic wetland is home to moose, bear, and beaver.

Facilities:

The campground offers 51 campsites with accessible flush toilets and showers. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, pedestal grill, fire ring and food storage locker. A reservable group campsite offering a more rustic experience is available for reservation. The group site is 1.5 miles away from the main campground, offering composting toilets only. Water is available at the campground but must be transported to the group site. There are no-hook ups at the campground, but a dumping station is available at the HQ Complex.
